Short film ‘Tom’s Dream’, written by Jowan Jacobs, is set for further public screenings throughout March as part of Screen Cornwall and C Fylm’s Kernow Kino programme celebrating Cornish film.
The film, commissioned by Screen Cornwall and Hall for Cornwall, tells the story of a young boy in Camborne who tries to reach the coast after discovering a surfboard. Working from Jowan Jacobs script, the film was developed in collaboration with students from Cornwall College Camborne and drama students from Hall for Cornwall’s youth programme; a collaborative project which empowered their creativity, and developed their ideas into the final film. The film will show alongside a programme of other Cornish feature films including BAFTA awarding Mark Jenkin’s ‘Enys Men’, Chris Morris’ ‘A Year in a Field’, and Barabara Santi’s ‘King for a Day’. Other Cornish shorts on the line up include ‘Mab Hudel’ directed by Ed Rowe, ‘Mowes’ directed by Bryher Flanders, ‘Art’ directed by Ben Kernow and ‘Lido’ directed by Michael Eddy. Having previously shown as part of Hall for Cornwall’s touring C Fylm programme, Kernow Kino will come to venues across Cornwall including Phoenix Cinema, The Poly Falmouth, Royal Cinema St Ives and The Ladder Redruth. Screenings are available to book through Cornwall 365 here. A further digital release is planned for April to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Cornish being recognised as a minority language.
